All About Liz...

Hi there! I'm Liz Matheny, the one and only crocheter at Donna's Decembers. I'm a 26-year-old high school English teacher by day and avid crocheter by night. I graduated from Salisbury University in 2007 and I am happily married to a high school history teacher, Cory. He keeps me busy and on my toes, but appreciates the work I do (and all the hours I put into it). If I'm not checking out a craft shop or yarn store, I'm usually at our favorite local sushi spot in Frederick, Maryland, reading a good book, grading papers, or hanging out at my favorite local pub.
I started the concept of Donna's on New Years Eve in 2009 when I knew my grandmother only had a few weeks to live (she was suffering from her second go-around with cancer). I had a deep love for my grandmother as she taught me how to crochet when I was younger.  As I contemplated my blog and shop name, I knew it had to incorporate her name, Donna. It needed something else, though. Finally, it hit me, Donna's Decembers. We were the only two December babies in our entire family--something special just between the two of us.

The blog has really taken on a mind of it's own as I have branched out from crochet and yarn related topics, to my daily life, pop culture topics, and pretty much whatever strikes my fancy.

You can also find me at various crafting and jewelry events throughout Maryland.

Thank you for stopping by!
