Even though things have only just recently started to pick up around here, that doesn't mean I haven't been working on accomplishing a few of my goals.
Goal #1: Read 26 Books this Year
So far this year I have read two magnificent books and am working on my third. They are:
Both will be getting full book reviews on the blog very soon. They're really great reads--you should check them out!
Goal #5: Purge
I am happy to say that I completely gutted my closet. I drove 5 stuffed garbage bags to Good Will last night full of clothes, shoes, and handbags. I'm hoping someone else can love them more than me. I essentially followed the same rules I established here and they worked like a charm. I feel so refreshed having only what I love in my closet. It's such a nice thing to wake up to each morning.
Goal #9: Cut Back
Cory and I have decided not to take the iPhone route and just continue to use our current Droids while we can. This way we're not paying to get the new phone for a downgrade, but we're also not totally out of the smartphone world yet. I think it's a weening stage, to be honest. He loves his Droid way more than I love mine--so it's ok with me for now. I have a feeling come summer, we will be smartphone-less.
Goal #13: Keep Anxiety at Bay
I think eliminating coffee from my diet was the best thing I could've done for this. Sure, I still get stressed, but by no means do I feel like I'm going to have an anxiety attack every day anymore. Thank goodness!
Goal #15: Increase Family Time
Cory and I went on a day trip with my mother, step father, and step brother to experience the Holocaust Museum and the Corcoran Art Gallery in D.C. two weekends ago. I left my smartphone in my purse (except for snapping a shot of this incredible piece in this incredible room) and just enjoyed being with my family. We had a really great day. Cory and I also attended this year's Potter's Bowl last Sunday with my parents. Two weekends in a row with my parents! Crazy!
Goal #17: Learn to Knit
I finally picked up a pair of knitting needles in January and taught myself the basic knit stitch. I'm still working on being able to purl and furthermore--combine the two. It's hard! It's much more time consuming than crochet, but I enjoy it! I haven't practiced in a while, but I'm proud of myself for at least attempting. I see more of this coming as we edge closer to spring!
Goal #21: Attend a Book Reading
On January 12, Cory and I met up with a former student of mine, Brianna, in Bethesda to attend a John Green Tour de Nerdfighting book event for his new book, The Fault in Our Stars (pictured above). I have a ton of photos from this to post--it was so much fun!
I have to be honest, going through my goal list and figuring out that I have already worked on 7 of them only within 3 months makes me feel pretty good!
How are your 2012 goals coming along?
xo,
Liz
That is so great you are keeping up with some of your goals! Learning to knit was so hard for me too. I did it a crazy way & ppl made fun of me for a bit!
