Happy Valentine's Day!

I should start this post by admitting that I have never been a fan of Valentine's Day. I think it's pretty crazy all the pressure the commercial world puts on people (couples, singles, everyone alike) to take a random day in February to tell people how much you care for them.

Being a sentimental person, though, I always try to reach out to those I care for during normal moments when I really feel appreciation for them. Be it Valentine's Day or not--the people in my life (and yours!) are important. It's nice to take the time to tell them how much they help you or how much you appreciate them.

Today I am spending the day at work, being as corny as humanly possible. My student teacher and I have prepared Mr. Men and Little Miss Valentine's Day cards for each of our students and I'll probably give out a ridiculous amount of candy. It's days like this that a little token of cheese goes a long way with high school students who might be pretty bummed about being single or a recent breakup.
