A Spring Wedding Outfit

Last spring two of our very best friends decided, on a whim, to get married on their shared birthday, April 4th. By this time they had been dating for nearly a year and a half, and Cory and I felt as if it was so sweet for them to plan an entire wedding (albeit small) within a week.  Cory was already "ordained" from marrying his sister and brother-in-law on the New Years Eve before, so there wasn't much else they needed to worry about. Everything was so perfect on April 4, 2011, that I could hardly believe it. The sun shone brightly and warmly, and the water falls in Great Falls, Virginia were full of life. It was a small ceremony, but perfect for this happy couple.

Fast forward a year. This spring, Rich and Beth are having a more traditional ceremony and reception. They decided to do this so more family and friends could help them celebrate and, most importantly, since the groom's parents weren't in attendance at their impromptu wedding last year. Cory is still going to officiate the wedding and we're truly hoping it's just as wonderful and sweet as their original vows last spring.

Instead of being at Great Falls, Rich and Beth are hosting their wedding at a local vineyard in Virginia and are anticipating about 190 more people to be in attendance than last year!

I'm starting to get extremely excited for April 14th, so I have been thinking about what I should wear on this special occasion. It's not every day your best friends get married TWICE!

It's been so beautiful and warm recently that day dreaming about spring dresses and light layers is pretty easy. I threw together this outfit (and really love it!) from Anthropologie. It would be so perfect for their spring wedding.

Do you have any dresses you've been eying for spring? I'm trying to establish a strong collection of go-to spring dresses to ease the stress of end-of-school-wind-down. As crazy as it sounds, sometimes a great dress seems to solve all my problems.

Happy Anniversary, Cory!

Today, I celebrate my 1 year anniversary with a fabulous man, Cory. To celebrate, I am sharing my favorite wedding photos with you!

Today you're going to see after-wedding and reception photos! The church we were married in is in Sharpsburg, Maryland, where I was raised and my mother still lives. One of the details that makes Sharpsburg such a small-town gem is that a majority of the Antietam National Battlefield is within the city limits. Cory and I really wanted to have some of our wedding photos taken on the battlefield as it is such a historic and beautiful place.

You'll also see that we gave each guest a mini composition books (get it? We're both teachers!) with my favorite E.E. Cummings poem and a sweet note from us printed on a card placed on top. The cover of the composition book read "7.10.10".

Enjoy :)

Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Cory!

Cory and I will celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary tomorrow. A year flies by, man!

To celebrate, I am taking Cory out of town tonight to spend the night in our favorite D.C. neighborhood so we can enjoy in a few festivities and plans that I have made. We'll be back in town late Sunday night... other than that, I can't spill anything about his surprise ;). You'll find out more on Sunday!

Cory and I had a dream wedding. In a summer where the average temperature in Maryland was 97 degrees, we lucked out with the only Saturday in July under 90 degress--in fact, I don't know if it was above 85 the entire day. We had a gorgeous ceremony at the church I was raised in, had photos taken on the Antietam Battlefield, and celebrated the night away with our closest family and friends at a local art gallery. We all went out downtown after the wedding and it was just so fun. We planned our wedding so all our out-of-town guests were with us Thursday-Sunday. We spent so much time with our friends and family and it felt so warm the entire time. From trivia night at a local bar to brunch the day after our wedding, there was so much love around us. We were so blessed.

To celebrate a little, I wanted to share some of our wedding photos with you, since I never shared very many last year! I'm going to split them up into 2 parts, so you'll get to see a bit today and a bit tomorrow :)

One of the details that made the day so special was that 3 of my most favorite students of all time actually crashed the ceremony. Ok, I may have told them when and where it was, but they weren't formally invited ;). It was really sweet to see them there on our special day :)

It's a lovely day for a royal wedding!

Good morning, ya'll :)

Yes, I'm up an extra hour early to watch Price William and Kate Middleton get married. I'm enjoying myself with a cup of coffee and some crochet before the actual ceremony begins.

Are you up early to watch?

An impromptu wedding.

I wanted to drop in quickly before I curl up for a long restful night in bed to give you a little sneak into the wedding Cory and I participated in this past weekend.

It was beautiful in every way and so romantic.

Congrats, Rich & Beth!

Oh baby, it's a wild world!

You know how when you look through your circle of friends, a few of them are simply a little crazier than the others? They aren't all crazy, but there are definitely a few who are out of the box on a consistent basis.

Well... last weekend, two of our crazy friends decided to get married to each other.
We were overcome with happiness!

.....and then they served us the punch line.....

Not only are they getting married... but they're getting marred on Monday.

"What 'Monday'?" I asked.
"This coming Monday...." they replied.

So, long story short, Cory and I are heading to Virginia to be with our beloved friends as they throw together an adorable wedding in a weeks time!

Ohhhh baby, it's a wild world!

Here's to you and to the lovely idea of living spontaneously!

Black and White

I love black and white photos. Do you? There is something so elegant and timeless about them...especially this time of year. Here is my favorite b&w photo that Pang snapped on our wedding day!

This was captured on a private road on the Antietam National Battlefield (which is where my hometown is located...for all of those who can remember Civil War history from high school).

P.S.
Don't forget about the GIVEAWAY!

Reception photo...

Here's a photo that our event planner at the Delaplaine caught before our receptionn began. Once I have more of Pang's pictures, I will post them. It was an absolutely lovely evening!

A sneak peak...

Pang, our amazing friend and wedding photographer, posted a sneak peak of a few wedding photos tonight. I literally jumped up and down when I saw them (even though we were waiting in line at a restaurant in North Carolina...)! I thought you might like to see how we looked on our big day!

I have a different picture from our wedding reception taken by a friend that I will share later!

Hi!

Long time, no see, folks!

We're officially back from Jamaica, but are currently in North Carolina (Outer Banks area) for another week of vacay! I plan on stopping in a bit more frequently to update with pictures and so forth, but there are still a few scheduled posts coming your way. This afternoon, I'm taking you on a shopping tour through Anthropologie to check out some summer into fall looks.

As you know, Cory and I have been married for a week (eek!), yay! I have a few pictures posted on facebook from friends, but I am DYING to see pictures from our photographer, Pang. She posted a little taste on her blog that I wanted to share with you. Go on over and visit her blog to share the love, too!

This makes me so excited to see the rest.

Have a lovely Sunday funday!

When life hands you lemons... make really tasty lemonade!

It's Monday of a BIG week! I am really not very stressed at all, believe it or not. Last week was SUPER hectic and crazy and I felt like I had a paper cut on every single one of my fingers! This week is wayyy more relaxed (just how I wanted) and all I have to do is get all the final touches placed for our wedding! Lisa comes to town on Wednesday and it will be SO nice having another set of hands around to help me with projects!

I'm putting together some good blog posts for you while I'm away in Jamaica and the Outer Banks for our 2 week honeymoon. When I get back, this blog will be LOADED with pictures and memories.

Also, I pinky promise a super cute giveaway (heads up: you have to follow my blog to enter...so get a move on) as soon as I get back!

In love and lemonade,
Liz

1 week!

Only one week until Cory and I are Mr. and Mrs!
Unbelievable!

Today we're cleaning up a little, enjoying in some 4th of July festivities in town, and enjoying our last weekend before the wedding!

I tell you what, I am in love with this dress and this color pallet for the rest of summer. If I were going to a cocktail party tonight, it is absolutely what I would want to wear!

I hope you have a lovely day!

A little taste of our reception

What are you doing on this lovely Friday afternoon?

Hopefully it involves something summery and pretty!

What am I doing, you ask?

I am finalizing a few last minute wedding details and finishing up some crafty projects for the reception.

Here's a taste of what our guests will see at our reception!

I am getting so excited!

My Bridal Shower!

I am so thankful for my wonderful shower that occured last Saturday! I decided that I couldn't choose just one maid of honor, so I named Lindsey my matron of honor and Lisa my maid of honor. Because Lindsey has a newborn and Lisa lives in Manhattan, I knew that they would do an amazing job of splitting the duties and taking care of everything. Sure enough, they did. The shower was beautiful and so much fun. It was great to see everyone and visit. I am so thankful for so many thoughtful gifts that I received as well! Here are a few pictures of the day (ignore the flash pics, the lighting was super wonky, so it was our last resort).

Ladies mingling.
Lindsey and Mom discussing plans, I'm sure.
My delicious cake from Icing Bakery & Cafe.
Cake table with shower favors. Such pretty colors!
Gobbling up some lunch!
Me with my future niece, Sloane.
Me and Lisa!
Adorable Laurel!

Thank you again everyone! It was such a wonderful day!

What's next you ask? Everyone is in town tonight for my bachelorette party! I'll post pics soon!
